I was born in Sukkur in the province of Sindh, Pakistan on May 29th 1978. I am the youngest of fourteen, nine brothers and five sisters. I have a twin brother and a pair of twin sisters too. I did my early Islamic education from Shah Faisal Mosque at Minara Road Sukkur.
Then I spent 10 years at Modern High School for my primary and secondary education, and passed my matriculation exams with distinction. I joined S.M.A College after that for my Intermediate (HSC) education and obtained first position at my college with Pre-Medical. Soon after that I joined an affiliated BCS (Bachelor of Computer Science) program of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. I completed my undergrad with distinction and 3.9 GPA. I moved to Karachi (another city in the same province) on May 12th 1999 for a job and my Masters program in Information Technology at PIMSAT. I received my Masters degree with 3.7 GPA, and started working as an instructor, and a lead engineer at Research and Development center at the same university. I also started to write for monthly Global Science magazine at this time.
I got married to Binish Bhagwanee on March 23rd 2001 (also Pakistan Day). My first book on “C++ Programming” also got published in the same year. I also enrolled at PAF-KIET Karachi for my continuing graduate credits in the department of computer science. After spending five years in Karachi, I moved to Lahore to join Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) for my second Masters in Computer Science, with my wife and my son Abdul Rehman (who was born on January 15th 2002).
During my education at LUMS, I joined GIFT University, Gujranwala (an industrial city in Punjab), as a technical consultant and worked there for almost a year before coming to USA. I got Fulbright scholarship to come to the USA for my Masters in Computer Science at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL. I completed my masters from Florida Tech in 2006 and then joined ECMTek Inc in New Jersey as an Ab Initio Developer (as part of my Post-Masters Academic Training). My first project with ECMTek was with CitiBank, New York and then I moved to River Woods, Illinois for my second project to work with Discover Financials Headquarters as an Ab Initio Developer.
I came back to Melbourne, FL to start my PhD in computer science at the same university on my second Fulbright scholarship in January 2007. I was blessed with a second baby boy Abdul Batin on March 4th 2008. I completed my Ph.D. in computer science in the fall of 2009. I also became the father of 3rd boy Abdul Aziz on September 24, 2009. I came back to Pakistan on November 6th 2009, and joined Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (www.giki.edu.pk) as an Assistant Professor in the faculty of computer science and engineering in December 2009. I resigned from the GIK Institute in December 2010 and moved to Islamabad to join Interactive Group (www.iacgrp.com) as a Chief of Research from January 2011. My PhD thesis was published in the form of a book “Modeling and Simulation of Suicide Bombing” in the same year as well. This year (2012) I’ve been selected as an Eisenhower Fellow and will be traveling back to the US this fall.I’ve left Interactive Group and just started my own company – Go-Fig Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
